One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don’t clean it up too quickly. – Andy Rooney

We’ve piled some of the opened gifts under the tree, sitting with cups of coffee and enjoying the day as our cats stalk in from the cold looking for their dinner.

Our house has been “neatened” from the Christmas chaos and clutter.
We’ve vacuumed and collected most of the coffee cups from the upstairs and downstairs. My husband did dishes while I started a load of laundry. The kids have taken the trash to the curb and swept the floors, returning to the kitchen to nibble on leftover cheese balls and other Christmas treats.

The smell of popcorn permeates the air while country music twangs out of the CD player on the kitchen counter. Various adult and young adult children and a boyfriend sit around the dining room table working on the Christmas puzzle. I am blessed.

The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other. ~Burton Hillis
