Genesis 2:18-24 “Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him…

The man gave names to all livestock and to the birds of the heavens and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him.

So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.

And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.

Then the man said, ‘This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

Lord, the task of building a permanent, loving marriage is too big. We can’t do it. We need Your sovereign grace. We need Your sacrificial love. We need Your Holy Spirit’s discernment and power. We need Your help.

We want to quit. We want to hold onto bitterness and anger. We simply can’t forgive. We turn to You in our deep weakness and sin and ask for Your strength to do what is right.

We know that to act loving and kind sometimes takes supernatural power but we know that You have that power!

Hebrews 13:4 “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

We ask for a great vision of marriage. We are battling from the inside for our marriage because we are sinners. We are being hit from the outside those who hate Biblical marriage. We know the battle is very real.

May we be armed with the truth. Build us up in Your spirit and put our feet on the solid foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

We know that by building our marriages and honoring our husbands we are involved in fighting the greater battle of standing for truth. Thank you Lord for strengthening us.

1 Corinthians 7:2 “But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.”

In your name we pray,
